Artist Statement: My father, a hopeless romantic and Zane Grey fan, inspired me to create this piece. “A Treat for my Friend” depicts an old cowhand somewhere in the Southwest treating his companion with a piece of fruit from a tree probably planted by early settlers making their way across the West towards the Pacific coast.

The lonely setting in a sea of prairie grass depicts the simple treasures that could have been found and shared amongst close friends.
